This IKEA BEKANT Storage unit, was perfect for a home lab without looking like a generic server rack.
It also makes a pretty good Faraday cage, but I have an access point in the most Centre location in my apartment.
In the top half of the unit I have the "Super Hub 3" router, I have a hole rant about this router and Virgin Media so don't get me started.
The router is connected to my Netgear GS724T a very reliable Gigabit switch.
as much as I would love the speed bump of a 2.5 Gigabit switch, nothing on my network can really utilise it.
On top we also have my my electric smart metre(it hurts every time I look at it), and the Philips Hue Bridge.
A Raspberry Pi 4 running home assistant, I used to run home assistant inside a VM on the the "hp prodesk g1 400" but after a recent update it's had a lot of issues with Vms.
Speaking of the "hp prodesk g1 400" it runs Ubuntu server, I use it to run a couple local sites with Docker things like credit creator from my github.
On the lower shelf (don't look at my cable management)
This is where my storage hangs out, at the highest point we have a "monument Labs photo organiser" it handles photo backup and storage for my partner, very easy to use it's kind of like an offline Google photos just a bit slow.
Then we have my TerraMaster F5-221 NAS with X5 10TB hard drives in a RAID5.
it's running a Plex server or though I've been tempted to switch over to Emby, Plex has a lot of features I don't really care about and a monthly subscription.
By the way don't ever make a raid with drives that are the same size at some point you are a file structure will implode, and you will have 10 TB of unrecoverable data ask me how I know.
The Naz is where I store everything very little is saved on my my system or on my laptop,
which is why I would love to upgrade to a faster ethernet connection so that I could edit footage straight off of the Naz without having to put it all on a portable SSD.
The NAZ has nightly backups to the two 10TB drives sitting beside it as well as an offsite backup.
To finish off the shelf we have the MacBook Pro, after being a daily driver for over a year I went back to a PC and it is now my grab and go.
I plead the fifth on this one ↓.
To finish it off I have to mention my plants the one on the left is my tiger plant (Alocasia zebrina Tiger), I've had it for almost 2 years and it's my favourite plant.
On the right is my peace lily, I don't love it but I don't hate it and as long as it's alive I'm keeping it.
Good news this is one of the few blog posts where I don't send you to watch my YouTube video, thanks for reading and have a great day.
